New:
Pierson Pointe Workforce Housing Community

Quality Homes For Essential Workers

Wilmington, NC- The Wilmington Realtors Foundation is proud to announce that it has been awarded $1.2 million through New Hanover County’s Workforce Housing Services Program. The funding is structured as a forgivable loan that will support the site and utility infrastructure of Pierson Pointe, a workforce townhome community at 6229 Carolina Beach Road designed to provide essential workforce housing in New Hanover County.

Pierson Pointe is a visionary project aimed at addressing the pressing need for affordable housing options in New Hanover County. These funds brings us closer to making this townhome community a reality, providing quality housing for working families who are vital to the strength and growth of our local economy.

“We are incredibly grateful to New Hanover County for their support,” said Jody Wainio, President of the Wilmington Realtors Foundation. “These funds are a crucial step forward in our efforts to deliver affordable, sustainable housing that meets the needs of our workforce. We look forward to working with our partners to bring Pierson Pointe to life.”

The Wilmington Realtors Foundation remains committed to tackling the housing challenges facing our community, and Pierson Pointe is a key part of that effort. This development will provide affordable homeownership opportunities and help create a stable, vibrant neighborhood for hardworking families.

Wilmington Realtors Foundation Receives Grant from New Hanover Community Endowment for Pierson Pointe Development

Wilmington, NC – The Wilmington Realtors Foundation is thrilled to announce it has been awarded a $650,000 grant from the New Hanover Community Endowment as part of their
Affordable Housing Investment Strategy. This generous grant will directly support the development of Pierson Pointe, a new 48-townhome community designed to provide affordable housing options for working families in New Hanover
County.

Pierson Pointe represents a critical step in addressing the affordable housing crisis in our region. With this grant, the Wilmington Realtors Foundation will be able to advance efforts and bring to life a vibrant, inclusive community that provides high-quality, affordable homes for those in need.

“We are incredibly grateful to the New Hanover Community
Endowment for their commitment to workforce housing,” said Jody Wainio, President of the Wilmington Realtors Foundation. “This grant will allow us to accelerate the Pierson Pointe development and provide much-needed housing options for our community.”

The New Hanover Community Endowment’s Affordable Housing Investment Strategy aims to address the pressing need for affordable housing in the area by supporting initiatives that create sustainable and equitable housing solutions. The Wilmington Realtors Foundation is honored to be a part
of this effort and looks forward to collaborating with other community partners to ensure the success of Pierson Pointe.

REALTORS® Giving Back To Their Profession. And Their Community.

The Wilmington REALTORS® Foundation, founded in 1988, is a 501(c)(3) charitable corporation that raises funds to support REALTORS® who may be facing catastrophic medical emergencies and to support other nonprofit organizations in our service area. For more than 25 years, many people have generously played a vital role in helping us raise funds in support of this mission.

We also look at other initiatives that can benefit our profession and the community. The latest is Pierson Pointe, which is building quality homes at affordable prices so essential workers (first responders, teachers, medical staff) can live within the Wilmington community.

Our members are highly active in many civic and nonprofit organizations, and our foundation, through them, may help scores of other worthy causes. On its own, Wilmington REALTORS® Foundation has donated over $300,000 to worthy organizations in our area.

Our Initiatives

Pierson Pointe Workforce Housing Development

Through the Foundation, funding and zoning efforts have helped establish Pierson Pointe, a new community of workforce townhomes, which will allow teachers, first responders, and others to live in the community that they serve.

Forty-eight workforce townhomes will soon be erected off Carolina Beach Road, south of Monkey Junction, as part of a townhome program  by the Wilmington Realtors Foundation.

The two-story attached single-family homes will be built on six acres of land on Carolina Beach Rd. The community is intended to house residents earning an area median income between 81% and 120%, as defined by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development.

REALTORS® Helping
REALTORS® Fund

Established in 1999, the fund was created specifically to help REALTORS® in the event of a catastrophic illness. By contributing, people may soon be part of giving someone in the REALTOR® family hope and help they need to get back on their feet.

Since REALTORS® typically can’t work when ill or injured, the fund has provided a lifeline to many people who have had ill fortune, allowing them to take the time to recover and to resume their lives.
